Our Board of Directors for 2006-2007 includes:

Antonia J. O'Neil
I've always been interested in animals and birds, even as a child, and I eventually received my B.S. in Zoology from the University of Maryland. In 1991, when I moved to Charlotte, NC I discovered the wonders of the Carolina Raptor Center, and I have been a state and federally licensed wildlife rehabilitator since that time. My training started there as a volunteer, and I went on to get my NC state wildlife permit, and eventually my Federal migratory bird permit. I was on the Board of Directors for two excellent organizations in Charlotte: the Animal Rehabilitators of the Carolinas, and Carolina Wild Care. While living in Charlotte, I also taught classes in wildlife rehabilitation and species specific classes for all three organizations, as well as for Second Chance Wildlife Rescue, in Fayetteville, NC. Last year I became a Board Member for the state wildlife organization, Wildlife Rehabilitators of North Carolina, and have been elected Vice President. Currently, I am also on the Board of Directors for Carolina Waterfowl Rescue. We work with the Wildlife Enforcement Officers for Camp Lejeune, and will be caring for the injured wildlife that is found there on base. My husband and I moved to the Jacksonville area in the summer of 1993, when he took a job with Carolina Sports Medicine. We moved out to the country in Hubert and created Possumwood Acres Wildlife Sanctuary, a non-profit organization there, located on 17 acres. Sharing our lives and home are our 4 dogs and 2 cats (all rescued animals), 4 very spoiled pet goats, several non-releasable mammals and raptors, and multitudinous ducks and geese.

Jennifer Gordon
Jennifer is a state and federally licensed wildlife rehabilitator. She is the director of Carolina Waterfowl Rescue which takes in approximately 500-700 birds a year. Her specialties are waterfowl and wading birds. She is a regular at Carolina Raptor Center working in the rehabilitation and resident bird care departments as a volunteer.
Jennifer is Chairman of the Board for Possumwood Acres Wildlife Sanctuary. She also serves as a board member for Wildlife Rehabilitators of the Carolinas (WRNC) the state wildlife rehabilitation organization.
She is also the founder of the Duck Rescue Network which seeks to network rehabilitators along with other rescuers across the county. They work on education, placement of non-releasable waterfowl, adoption assistance for domestic waterfowl, share health and care information and husbandry. They also coordinate rescues and transports across the county.

Marlys Lipe
Is a Professor of Accounting at the University of Oklahoma. She earned her BA at Alma College (Alma, MI) and her MBA and PhD at the University of Chicago (PhD is in accounting and behavioral decision theory). She and her husband live in central Oklahoma on a property with ponds. They've owned pet ducks since 1997. They also have a few chickens and guineafowl. Her web alias is Chick Mom and her photo albums are online at www.picturetrail.com/marlipe.

Teresa A. Whatley (Terry)
I have been a self-employed systems analyst and computer programmer for the past 20+ years and co-own a small software company with my husband. Prior to that I worked in the banking industry in the area of trust operations. I currently live in Lake Forest, CA and have for the past 20+ years.
I was born in Northwestern Kansas and grew up in Southeastern Colorado in a very small town high in the mountains. I graduated from high school there and then attended the University of Denver as a Boettcher Scholar. I received my BSBA degree in 1970 with a major in Management Science and a minor in Sociology.
I have been a life long animal lover and started bringing strays home at about the age of 5. In 1998, I became involved with trying to assist the abandoned domestic waterfowl at a local park and have been doing this ever since. Soon I was not only looking out for this park and the birds there but was being called upon to assist with situations all over Southern California.
I work closely with local area permitted wildlife rehabilitators and local city and county animal control departments. I now take in not only domestic/exotic waterfowl and other domestic/exotic species of birds but also rehabilitate non-protected species of wild birds which include English Sparrows, European Starlings, and Rock Pigeons.
My rescue and rehabilitation work is done under the name of Village Pond Rescue & Rehabilitation.

Terrie L. Lacy
Terrie Lacy has had a lifelong love for ducks. After moving to an acre in the country outside of Oregon City, Oregon, she got her first flock in 2004. Her interest in rescue came one day at her local park, where she was concerned about the plight of the dumped ducks and geese there. She has since rescued several from her local park, with the assistance of her wonderfully patient and supportive husband, Bob. Terrie keeps a watchful eye on the rest, making sure they have proper food, even educating park visitors about better feeding of the ducks there. She has also taken in many ducks and a goose in need, even driving to another state to bring home Miss Matilda, a special needs pekin with a heart of gold. Through various online groups, she found her way to The Duck Rescue Network and joined the team.

Tiffany Young
During the day, Tiffany leads a team of 18 pixel-wrangling designers, animators and writers, and oversees evelopment of all creative at an interactive design & game studio in Seattle. She has been in creative advertising for over 13 years in three cities on two coasts. A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin's creative advertising program, Tiffany is also an illustrator and an amateur shutterbug.
Tiffany rescued her first baby bird at age 2, sneaking it into the basement after it fell from a nest. She has always loved animals and is now a part-time volunteeer for PAWS.org. Among her 10 pets is Mr Flapper, a pekin with a blog which can be read at http://www.mrflapper.com. Tiffany helps the Duck Rescue Network with communications and website design.

Kendra Addington
Kendra grew up in the Washington, DC suburbs. A self-proclaimed "city girl" who always loved animals and birds, she enjoyed the bustling life near a major city. After a 15 year career managing meetings and tradeshows, Kendra traded in the frequent travel and business suits for a quieter life in the Florida Panhandle with her husband Scott. She then joined the local Audubon Society chapter and became their volunteer newsletter editor.
It was while living next to a pond that had a flock of feral Muscovies that Kendra fell hopelessly in love with ducks! After moving to an older house in a small agricultural neighborhood, she began volunteering with a local wildlife rescue group and was previously on their Board of Directors. This led to her first "foster duck", a tiny duckling named Peepers with neurological problems. After getting her own 2 pet ducks, Clarence & Bailey, and hours of studying duck health, nutrition and behavior, Kendra joined the Duck Rescue Network. Now, she rescues, fosters, and rehabs ducks on a regular basis. Kendra's goal is to get the state of Florida networked with many rescuers and foster families, and to educate the public about the plight of abandoned domestic ducks and geese.

Our Board of Advisors for 2007 includes:

Carol Lee Penun
Graduated from UCLA with a degree in Zoology but really didn't use it in any jobs I had...Social Worker for the County of Los Angeles and then running the Bacteriology Lab for Baxter/Pharmaceal here in my area. After finally acquiring property that was animal zoned in the Santa Rosa Valley of Ventura County, I was able to realize my life's ambition and raise various animals and birds. I became interested in Rheas because of their unique characteristics and personalities although my first love has always been waterfowl. I have 50 birds : ducks, geese, turkeys, chickens, a pet peacock "P.J.", "Carmen" Rhea plus my Boxer, "Dakota", two cats, a yellow naped parrot "Kelly" two cockatiels and one husband, Vic. I have yet to find a replacement for my beautiful Paint "Lightnin' " whom I had to euthanize due to lymphatic carcinoma. I have associations with local vets and rehabbers of wildlife who will contact me for rescue and placement of domestic waterfowl. All of my ducks and three geese have been acquired in this manner and now thrive among the rest of my pets.
